These cheese slicers are made from a slab of purpleheart, an exotic hardwood native to Latin America. The purple color is not a die or stain, but rather, a natural color the wood becomes after exposure to air and UV light. The purple color will darken as it ages and will eventually end up a brownish color. All of our cheese slicers are hand-crafted with attention to detail and are finished with Board Butter, a food-safe product made from mineral oil and beeswax that brings out the color in the wood and adds a layer of protection to your investment.
